May 2008: Ethanol Production and Demand
WASHINGTON, DC – According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), American ethanol facilities were producing 598,000 barrels per day (b/d) in May. That is up from 562,000 b/d in April. On an annualized basis, that represents more than 9 billion gallons of ethanol production.
Ethanol demand, as calculated by the Renewable Fuels Association, continued to outpace production. In May, the RFA estimated ethanol demand at 616,000 b/d, up by 19,000 b/d over April.
